We had promised David, one of the boys from the hike to Las Tres Cruces that we would have a Bible Study at his house on Saturday, August the 21st. So, we returned to San Jose on Friday night and Saturday morning was dedicated to transporting a few of our missionary friends to the famous Pricemart since we had a 12 passenger van and everyone could stock up. The men went shopping. Hurrah!
Then, in the afternoon the time was dedicated to trying to find the place where David lived. It was up a few hills and after a few landmarks, and several questions to several people on the way, that we found David's house. Thankfully, it was in a safe place and his family welcomed us with great open arms. His father's words were: "God works in misterious ways". I had a feeling that this Dad has been praying for his son. They were happy to receive the gringos in their home and we started the Bible Study in the book of John. On our first meeting, Brother Tony, his daughter Corey, Jeff, and I got to have the pleasure of meeting them for the first time in their home. Well, David turned out to be a Phillip prototype. He calls the others and they come to the Bible Study. Below is a picture of the first 4 boys that attended the Bible Study.
Esterlin (L), David (2nd), Daniel (3rd), Jose (R)
Our next meeting with them takes place on September 4th, 2010. We came home really uplifted by the reception and the outcome of our first meeting. Our first meeting with the boys from Las Tres Cruces brought us much joy and we were thankful that we stopped in San Jose to fulfill our promise. Unto home and time to get ready to meet Keyla in the area of Limon.
Interestingly, we have learned that all of these places are dangerous places to be in, but for us they have turned to joy! In John 1: 38 - 39 Jesus sees that few men were following him and He said to them: " What seek ye? They replied, Where dwellest thou? Jesus replied: "Come and see and they came and saw where he dwelt, and abode with him that day. As we follow Jesus, sometimes we find that He may dwell amongst the dangerous places and we must follow Him there so we can tell others about Him. Who knows how many will follow Him from those places once they have heard about our wonderful Savior!
