The Work Expands...

So, what happens when a son named Michael goes to a village in a remote area and his 4 x 4 breaks down?  The people in the village helped him to get the vehicle to the local mechanic and the vehicle had to remain there to be worked on, the mechanic did a great work.  Dad, whose name is Marvin and Michael went later on, by mountain bikes to pick up the vehicle. Michael liked so much the mechanic's work that he would bring his vehicle two hours away for any repairs needed. This went on for about a year.  Cesi, the mother could not understand why her son would travel 2 hours to get his car fixed. Marvin and Cesi reside in Aserrí.

One of these times, Marvin went with him to pick up the car a second time and met an alcoholic named Jesús Chinchilla, who was hanging around the shop.  So, Marvin being the evangelist that he is, decided to share Christ with him, so the man asked Marvin to come back to help him and his family. This took place around the same time as the preliminary work in La Fila was taking place back in November and December of 2010.

Disclaimer:  I changed batteries on the camera and the date changed to 2006, the actual date of the pictures is on February 13, 2011.

Jesús Chinchilla is the man on the yellow and the man next to him his brother.
Marvin is one of the men from our church that has a passion for souls, and a furniture builder along with his son Michael. So, Marvin committed to go on Wednesdays to share the gospel with the Chinchilla family and started to visit families in the neighborhood.  Every Wednesday, Marvin and his wife Cesi would go and visit in this community.  The work in Cangrejal de Acosta began spontaneously,  there was no field study, there was just the cry of an alcoholic man wanting help.

Cesi, Marvin's wife is wearing the pink blouse, Martha is next to Cesi.

During the month of January Marvin had visited not only people in Cangrejal, but in La Ceiba, and  Llano Bonito.  Up to this point there have been around 35 professions of faith only in Cangrejal.  Since the beginning of February, Noemi's job was to go to Cangrejal on Sundays to teach the young children of Cangrejal and at Llano Bonito and the children of a lady from La Ceiba, who would walk close to two hours to come to the studies bringing her children to learn about the life of Jesus.

In order to go to Cangrejal, there must be a 4 x 4 vehicle accesible to go, there is limited room in the vehicle to be able to go every week.  So, the rest of the family has to take turns going there depending on the workers going. Kaila has joined once in the work, she really enjoyed helping me teach the children and enjoyed working with the children in Llano Bonito the most. Otherwise, she joins Jeff on Saturdays to go to La Fila, as she alternates with Josiah.

This is one of the things we found on the way to Cangrejal one day.  An ant eater!
The children in these two places have very little knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.  We have been taking them through the gospel of Matthew teaching them about the life of Christ.  These children hardly know who Jesus is, what sin really is, therefore, it has been a treat to bring them from the birth of Christ, in the last few weeks, to the crucifixion of Jesus Christ.  Two weeks ago, three professed Christ as their Savior, in two weeks they will be learning about the resurrection of Christ, please continue to pray for them as they come to know Jesus as their personal Savior and Lord!

Susana is a teen from Cangrejal and Diego on the blue is a teen from Llano Bonito.
Here the group is having refreshments after the Bible Study!
Fer on the blue shirt and Jeff, part of the team who went to work on this Sunday!
The man with the glasses is Martín, he is very interested in learning the Word.
Stay tuned to hear about the story of Fer and Rosi. They will be going to a conference in Panamá on April 19th through the 24th.  Please help us pray for their trip to this Conference and their call;  also for the work that is taking place in Cangrejal de Acosta and La Fila of Aserrí.
